Benefits of Therapeutic Grade Essential oils and their properties have been used for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians began using essential oils around 4500 BC. Most are created through a process known as distillation and are concentrated from plant flowers, leaves, roots, bark, and others. This process can help retain the natural fragrance of the plant.
Oils can be utilized in several different capacities—from topical to aromatic to ingested. One aromatic form utilizes a diffuser. This is a device that disperses tiny particles of oil around the room so you are able to breathe them in. The best diffusers are atomizing and employ a cold air pump to force the essential oil through the atomizer ultimately creating a micro-fine vapor in the air. The process of conveying aromas to the brain is called olfaction – or simply, smelling. Direct inhalation is the easiest technique where you simply breathe in the aroma through the nose. One way to enhance this method is to place a drop in the hands, rub them together, and cup around your nose and mouth and breathe in deeply.
When applying oils topically, it is important to take the time to massage them thoroughly into the bottom of the foot (the big toe and arch). This increases blood flow to the area and allows the skin to absorb more efficiently the valued compounds. My blend is created with two carrier oils (hemp seed and argan), allowing for maximum effectiveness and minimal irritation to you.
Essential Oils (Rest Renewed blend): Geranium, Rose, Ho Wood, Marjoram, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Lavender, Lemongrass, Coriander Seed, Ylang Ylang, Vetiver, Lemon, Roman Chamomile, Jasmine, Sandalwood
- Dropper bottle: Utilize 1-2 drops in diffuser following manufacturer’s instructions for diffuser on amount of water to use and length of time to use.
- Roller ball: Because essential oils are fat-soluble, when they are applied directly to the skin (even with a carrier oil), their chemical compounds are readily absorbed and enter the blood stream, preferably on the bottom of your feet.
